I am a small business owner of 21 years and a native Texan. I have watched as my once thriving business, built with my blood and sweat, has slowly dwindled away , because I simply cannot compete with the prices that illegal immigrants are able to charge, and my government refuses to do anything about this encroachment. Not only that, I believe they are encouraging this. I am not overstating when I say that I literally jump through hoops to keep what jobs I can, having to charge prices that permit me to barely break even, for I refuse to hire illegals,(it still is illegal) and I pay the talented people that work with me good wages. I am tired of hearing that these are jobs that Americans won't do - I love my job, want to do my job, but illegals and more importantly employers that hire illegals won't let me. What can I do when the government, to which I pay taxes, teach my children to respect and abide by its' laws and be the best citizen I can be, , tosses me, and other Americans like me, aside like yesterday's garbage? Senator Hutchison's office had the audacity to suggest that maybe I should look into another line of work! Since my president, and many members of the Senate have decided to turn their backs on citizens like me, I have decided that I will no longer sit quietly by the sidelines. I am going to fax, e-mail, call, write, show up at offices, and contribute to any elected official that is running against those sell-out, elitist Senators, and contribute to the campaigns of Senators that actually listen to their constituents. Like so many Americans, I need to be spending my time working, but I think we all made a difference last week, and I will continue that fight. I say to the president, (a man that I have supported since his governorship), his administration, and those sell-out Senators: If you want my job and my America - you are going to have to "Come and Take It"!
